nur (Negev Urban Research) is the newest member of MIT’s City Science Lab Network, now joining 9 other labs worldwide. Located in the heart of the Negev Desert, NUR is a unique partnership between Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, SCE Sami Shamoon College of Engineering, Beer Sheva Municipality and a large coalition of ministries, local governments, nonprofits, and private organizations.

NUR focuses on tackling some of the most pressing urban challenges in desert environments, such as extreme climates, rapid population growth, resource scarcity, and more. By leveraging multidisciplinary collaboration and advanced, data-driven tools, NUR is poised to redefine urban innovation on the desert's edge.
