Sustainability: Preserving and Protecting the Space Environment for Future Generations

Similar to pressing environmental issues on Earth, the significant rise in space debris poses an increasing challenge to economically vital orbital regions, impacting not only the space sector itself, but the entire international community. Recent figures estimate over 500,000 debris objects greater than the size of a marble, and many millions of debris pieces too small to be tracked.

Panelists from industry, academia, and government will share their perspectives on the critical need to foster space sustainability, and the latest technological and regulatory developments to support all elements of the space value chain—from satellite operators to end-users.

Moderator: Adam Heath, Senior Editor, POLITICO

Panelists:

Rick Ambrose, Executive VP, Lockheed Martin Space

Dr. Alice Bunn, International Director, UKSA and Vice Chair, Council of the European Space Agency

Dr. Minoo Rathnasabapathy, Research Engineer, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Will Marshall, CEO, Planet
